Ten Rules to Live By

Wounds can turn into wisdom. The lessons learned through hardship are the tuition we pay to light our future path — if we allow it.

One: let it go. Never ruin a good day by dwelling on a past experience.

Two: evict everyone and everything that robs you of your power. Ignore the critics. Do not listen to the disempowering opinions of others. Surround yourself with people and things that reinforce your strength, and evict everything else. If it does not make you wiser, stronger, or more alive, what are you doing with it?

Six: it is on you. You are the only one in charge of your happiness. Do not let others dictate how you should view and live your life. And if you are going to try, go all the way.

Seven: use your darkness. No matter what happens to you, it is what you do with your darkness that determines whether you ever see the light. It is okay to show vulnerability, because no one is invulnerable — but never show weakness as surrender.

Eight: nothing lasts forever. Whatever it is you are going through, it will pass.

Nine: warriors do not suppress their emotion, they control it. Your emotion is your strength, but only if it is not allowed to breach the boundary of your sanity. You can cry in the storm or dance in the rain. That choice is always yours.

Ten: just breathe. And no matter what, keep going.
